In pagan times, a clay toy was a magical object, capable of causing storm and rain, and warding off the devil's power. For the first time, clay whistles appeared in the 8th century BC. E., but with the development of progress and the loss of ritual meaning, they began to be used as musical instruments and folk toys.
Previously, whistles were made from the same clay as pottery. It was thoroughly kneaded and molded in the form of images and characters typical for a particular country. These were birds, wild and domestic animals, heroes of folk tales and epics.
