Masters creatively reinterpret flowers, leaves, and berries, creating decorative compositions with their own rhythm and character. That is why each composition has a distinctive artistic look.
Petrykivka ornament is easily recognizable by its abundance of plant motifs, the combination of large and small elements, and dynamic composition. On decorative plates, flowers, buds, berries, lace-like leaves, and fine decorative lines look especially impressive.
The tradition of Petrykivka painting also includes images of birds. According to UNESCO, in the symbolism of this art the rooster is associated with fire and spiritual awakening, while birds symbolize light, harmony, and happiness. At the same time, the specific meaning of a composition may depend on the master’s intention.
